The standards of the EN 3745 series describe test methods for optical fibres and cables for aircraft use. The new edition of Part 501 specifies a method of determining the attenuation variation of an optical cable during mechanical bending under load at the maximum and minimum operating temperatures. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 3745-510:2003-05: - the scope has been expanded and explained in more detail; - in addition to the previous method, a second method has been incorporated in the standard, the methods have been designated for purposes of distinction as method A and method B. - the standard has been editorially revised. The standards of the EN 3745 series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("LWL and LWL-components") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
