This European Standard specifies a method for determining the working life for adhesives for load-bearing timber structures by a viscosity test. This method is not suitable for determining the working life of a multi-component adhesive whose actual working life is very short. The standard serves for comparison of adhesives on a reliable basis. The results obtained by this method cannot be applied unmodified to the manufacture of timber structures without taking into consideration the influences of processing temperature and relative air humidity. During testing the increase of the viscosity of a specified volume of adhesive is monitored at 20 °C using a Brookfield type viscometer, until it reaches 25 000 mPa×s. With respect to DIN EN 302-7:2004-10 the title has been modified and the standard has been editorially revised. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-04-05 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Holzklebung" ("Mirror committee for CEN/TC 193/SC 1 Wood adhesives") at DIN.
