This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Union, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This standard specifies safety and hygiene requirements for the design and manufacture of dough sheeters used in the food industry and craft activities (bread-making, pastry-making, sweets industries, bakeries, confectioners, delicatessens, catering facilities, etcetera) for reducing the thickness of a solid mass of dough or pastry by rolling it out. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to the transport, installation, adjustment, operation, cleaning, maintenance, dismantling, disassembling and scrapping of dough mixers, when they are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to dough sheeters, when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer. Noise is not considered to be a significant hazard. This does not mean that the manufacturer is absolved from reducing noise and making a noise declaration. The following machines are excluded: experimental and testing machines under development by the manufacturer; dough sheeters where the dough is fed to the rollers by gravity (for example, pizza base dough sheeters); domestic appliances. This European Standard is not applicable to dough sheeters which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN. This standard contains the German version of EN 1674:2015 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 153 "Machinery intended for use with foodstuffs and feed" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This standard differs significantly from DIN EN 1674:2010-10 as follows: a) normative references have been updated; b) the list of the significant hazards and danger zones for mechanical hazards has been specified in more detail; c) new subclauses have added: 5.3.5 (Unexpected start-up) and 5.4 (Requirements concerning flour dust emission). The national interests during the preparation of the standard are represented by Committee NA 060-18-01 AA "Bäckereimaschinen" ("Bakery equipment") of Technical Section "Food Processing Machinery" of the Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of bakery equipment, and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard.
This document replaces DIN EN 1674:2010-10 .
