DIN EN 15860:2012-01

DIN EN 15860:2010-11 specifies the requirements and test methods that apply to semifinished products such as rods, hollow bars and plates made from thermoplastic materials. These semifinished products are used predominantly for the manufacture of finished parts by means of machining. This document has been prepared by CEN/TC 249 "Plastics", the secretariat of which is held by NBN (Belgium). On the European level German Working Committee NA 054-04-02 AA "Halbzeuge aus Thermoplasten" ("Thermoplastic semi-finished products") of the Plastics Standards Committee (FNK) has been significantly involved in the preparation. This document (EN 15860:2011) is, in terms of content, the continuation of the European draft standard prEN 1549 published in 1994 under the title "General requirements of thermoplastic profiles for machining", which has since been withdrawn. This document (DIN EN 15860:2011) supersedes the following German Standards: DIN 16809, Hollow rods of circular cross-section of polyester (PETP and PBTP) - Dimensions DIN 16978, Polyacetale hollow rods of circular cross-section - Dimensions DIN 16980, Thermoplastics rods - Dimensions DIN 16983, Hollow rods of circular cross-section of polyamide (PA) - Dimensions DIN 16985, Semi-finished thermoplastics products - Technical delivery conditions DIN 16986, Thermoplastics flat bars - Dimensions Compared with DIN EN 15860:2010-11, the following corrections have been made: a) DIN 16941:1986-05 has been deleted from the superseding note. b) the normative reference to ISO 15527:2007 has been replaced by ISO 15527:2010 in clause 2 and Table 1. c) in the scope, "test methods for rods, hollow bars and plates" has been replaced by "test methods that apply to semi-finished products such as rods, hollow bars and plates". d) in 5.1, "should" has been replaced by "shall". e) in 5.1, the colour designation for 'natural colour' has been specified. f) Figures 1, 2, 4a), 4c) and 7 have been corrected. g) PPS has been added in Table 3, column 1. h) the term "Warmlagerung" has been replaced by "Wärmebehandlung" throughout the whole document. j) in 6.6, "Messgenauigkeit für Halbzeugmaße" has been replaced by "Fehlergrenze der Messgeräte". j) editorial modifications.
