This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a "harmonized" standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). The purpose of this standard is to address the operator's visibility in such a manner that the operator can see around the rough-terrain variable reach truck to enable proper, effective and safe operation that can be quantified in objective engineering terms. This standard includes a test method that determines the masking due to the truck, its components and attachments and a standard test load around the truck. The method used does not capture all of the aspects of the operator's visibility. It provides information to assist in determining the acceptability of visibility from the truck. Criteria are included in this standard to provide guidance for designers as to the extent of visibility masking that are acceptable. This standard contains the German version of EN 15830:2012, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 150 "Industrial trucks - Safety" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of this standard the national interests were represented by Committee NA 060-22-43 AA "Flurförderzeuge mit veränderlicher Reichweite" at Technical Section "Fördertechnik" ("Conveying technology") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of industrial trucks and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to the preparation of the standard.
