This European Standard specifies requirements for laminate flooring with an electron beam cured acrylic-based surface layer. It contains a classification system with practical requirements for specific areas of use and stress classes. This serves to indicate in which areas laminate flooring can be satisfactorily used, as well as to enable the consumer to make an informed choice. It also specifies requirements for marking and packaging. Consideration is given to "residential" and "commercial" application areas, for example, for use in domestic kitchens. This standard does not specify requirements related to areas that are subject to frequent wetting, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms or saunas. Compared to EN 14978:2006 a uniform definition for laminate flooring has been included and a defined installation base for determining impact stress with a large ball has been added. For laminate flooring with a high degree of gloss, requirements have been specified in stress classes 32 and 33. Test methods and requirements for abrasion resistance for high gloss laminate flooring have been modified and requirements for resistance to cigarette burns deleted. Micro-scratch resistance has been included as an additional technical property. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-04-30 AA "Laminatböden" ("Laminate floor coverings") at DIN.
