This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent to facilitate proof of compliance with those requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This European Standard applies to spreader, stripping and cutting machines, as well as the stick return conveyors and the stick magazines used in continuous pasta processing plants able to produce more than 100 kg/h. This European standard specifies the safety requirements for the design, manufacture and information for safe use of spreader, stripping and cutting machine, as well as the stick return conveyor and the stick magazine classified as stationary units which cannot be moved when in operation. This European Standard does not apply to household machines and semiautomatic machines, so called "batch machines" requiring manual loading. The significant hazards and the measures for their reduction are described in the present European Standard. Ancillary equipment, which is not an integral part of the machinery (for example, hoppers), is not covered by this European Standard. This European Standard is not applicable to machines in its scope which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN. This standard contains the German version of EN 13379:2001+A1:2013 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 153 "Machinery intended for use with foodstuffs and feed" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 13279:2002-03: a) normative references have been updated; b) the standard has been revised in form and substance; c) an informative Annex ZA on the relationship between this European Standard and the Essential requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been included. The national interests during the preparation of the standard are represented by Committee NA 060-18-07 AA "Getreideverarbeiter" ("Grain processors") at Technical Section "Food Processing Machinery" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of pasta and cereals processing machinery, and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard.
This document replaces DIN EN 13379:2002-03 .
