This standard specifies the requirements for leak detection systems - class V for use with systems designed for fuels that are flammable, having a flash point up to but not exceeding 100 °C. Class V systems can indicate a loss of liquid in tanks or pipelines below the liquid level. Before the leak is indicated, the product penetrates the environment (for example, sensors in monitoring wells). This standard contains the same requirements in terms of content as the standard DIN EN 13160-6:2003, which was withdrawn without replacement in March 2013. As these systems are still in use in the UK, this part has been reintroduced into the series of standards. The European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 393/WG 2 "Equipment for storage tanks and for filling stations" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The German committee involved in the preparation of the standard was Working Committee NA 104-02-03 AA "Leckanzeigegeräte" ("Leak detection devices") at DIN Standards Committee Tank Installations (NATank).
This document replaces DIN EN 13160-6:2003-09 .
