DIN EN 13141-2 is part of a standard series with performance tests of components/products for residential ventilation. Part 2 specifies laboratory methods for testing exhaust and supply air terminal devices operated under pressure differences. The standard applies to air terminal devices used in mechanical and natural powered residential ventilations systems, of the following types: - devices with a manually adjustable opening; or - devices with a fixed opening; or - pressure difference controlled devices. It describes tests intended to determine the following aerodynamic and acoustic characteristics: - flow rate/pressure; - air diffusion characteristics (for supply air terminal devices); - noise production for components of systems; - insertion loss of component of systems; - sound insulation. The document replaces EN 13141-2:2004. With respect to the previous edition, the different installation conditions of exhaust and supply air terminal devices have been taken into account through different test setups. The performance test for acoustic characteristics has been revised. The previous recommendations for this test have been changed to requirements. The standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 156 "Ventilation for buildings" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom). The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 041-02-51 AA "Lüftung von Wohnungen" ("Residential ventilation") of the Heating and Ventilation Technology Standards Committee (NHRS) at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization e. V.
