This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This European Standard deals with the following roller coating machines: a) single and multi-roller contra-rotating machines; b) single and multi-roller synchronised machines; c) single and multi roller- contra-rotating/synchronised machines, so-called combined machines. These machines are not intended to be used during transportation. This standard specifies safety requirements for design, construction and operation. This standard deals with the intended use, foreseeable misuse, component and systems failure. This standard takes account of material feeding and handling devices which, when attached to the machine, become an integral part. This document is not applicable to roller coating machines which are manufactured before the date of publication of this standard. This standard does not establish any requirements for electromagnetic disturbances. Directive 94/9/EC concerning equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres can be applicable to the type of machine or equipment covered by this European Standard. The present standard does not necessarily comply with Directive 94/9/EC, however. Additional safety requirements in a future revision of this standard can be necessary to satisfy Directive 94/9/EC. This standard contains the German version of EN 13113:2002+A1:2010, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 200 "Tannery machinery- Safety" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 13113:2002: a) modification of the foreword b) modification of the introduction c) modification of clause 1, Scope d) update of clause 2, Normative references e) modification of clause 3, Terms and definitions f) modification of clause 4, List of hazards g) modification of clause 5, Safety requirements and/or protective measures h) modification of clause 6, Verification of safety requirements and/or protective measures i) modification of clause 7, Information for use j) modification of Figure 1 k) modification of Annex ZA l) Annex ZA (informative) Relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of EU Directive 98/37/EC m) amendment of the Bibliography. The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Committee NA 060-26-69-02 AK "Lederherstellungs- und Pelzmaschinen" ("Machines for the manufacture of leather and fur") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. The preparation of the standard was carried out without German collaboration due to lacking representatives; the standard was prepared purely formally.
This document replaces DIN EN 13113:2003-09 .
