The amendment of the EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC) to the EU Construction Products Regulation (305/2011/EU) requires certain formal changes which shall be taken into account in the harmonized product specifications. This results in action consequences for the whirlpool bath manufacturers. Whirlpool baths are sanitary appliances, having a rated voltage of not more than 250 V for single phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances, which are intended to be installed in indoor domestic situations and used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for personal hygiene. Such whirlpool baths are tested and supplied as a complete independent unit designed to be drained down after every use. They can be transported in several separate parts, for assembly on site, to facilitate delivery. CEN/TC 163 "Sanitary appliances" was aware that due to the new requirements for the manufacturers of sanitary appliances resulting from Regulation 305/2011/EU and the previously unsuccessful specifications of the relevant harmonized European standards, there was significant unrest and uncertainty among the actors was created on the market. At the initiative of the German delegation in CEN/TC 163, the short-term change or revision of all these standards, including EN 12764, was initiated. NA 119-05-18-10 UA "Bade- und Duscheinrichtungen" ("Bath and shower installations") at the DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW) is responsible for the national mirroring of the work on this standard. These standards have been prepared by CEN/TC 163/WG 4 "Baths (W/Pools) - Shower trays (Performance testing)" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom) under the leadership of the employees of Committee NA 119-05-18-10 UA "Bade- und Duscheinrichtungen" ("Bath and shower devices") at the DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
