This European Standard applies to natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (NSHEV) operating as part of smoke and heat exhaust systems (SHEVS), placed on the market. This standard specifies requirements and gives test methods for natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators which are intended to be installed in smoke and heat control systems in buildings. This standard differs from DIN EN 12101-2:2003-09 as follows: a) the test rig has been adapted; b) the procedure for the wall ventilation has been simplified; c) Annex I representing a so-called direct scope of application for tests has been included. This means that after an initial testing within the context of the direct scope of application according to rules specified there, amendments of the tested product are rendered possible. As a general rule, no further tests are necessary then. Further statements are possible (via expert opinion) according to the statements in the extended scope of application for certain situations on the part of the inspection authorities that have conducted the tests; d) a validation of the inspection authorities for the value of A w-value has been included; e) for the heat exposure test, the tolerances of the heating curve have been checked including the position of the thermocouples to be used; f) the standard has been generally revised and adapted; g) basic conditions have been adapted according to the EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR). Working Committee NA 005-52-32 AA "Rauch- und Wärmefreihaltung (Spiegelausschuss von CEN/TC 191/SC 1 und ISO/TC 21/SC 11 sowie zu Teilbereichen von CEN/TC 127/WG 7)" ("Smoke and heat control systems (Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 191/SC 1 and ISO/TC 21/SC 11 and of parts of CEN/TC 127/WG 7)") at DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering (NABau) is responsible for the German collaboration.
