DIN EN 1034-3:2012-02

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This European Standard applies to rereelers and winders and applies together with EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. It deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazard events relevant to rereelers and winders, when used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. This European Standard does not apply to machines used in paper converting. This European Standard is not applicable to rereelers and winders which were manufactured before the date of publication as a European standard. This standard contains the German version of EN 1034-3:2011 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 198 "Printing and paper machinery - Safety" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 1034-3:2010-07: a) The content of the standard was modified to reflect the present state of the art. b) The normative references were updated. c) The requirements for the safety-related parts of control systems were updated. For an increased number of defined safety functions, requirements were specified on the basis of the standards EN ISO 13849-1 and EN 62061. d) The requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC regarding the captivity of the fixing systems of guards have been included. e) The document was supplemented by requirements relating to the electric drive system, to threading devices, unwinds and winds with automatic set changing. f) New requirements were added concerning integrated embossing calendars, machine pulpers and shredders for trimmed material. g) Illustrations of rereelers and winders were added in Annex A. During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Working Committee NA 060-23-01 AA "Druck- und Papiermaschinen" ("Printing and paper machinery") at Technical Section "Printing and paper machinery" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Manufacturers' representatives and representatives the German trade association for raw materials and chemical industry were involved in the preparation of the standard.
