This national standard applies to brewhouse plants and parts thereof, which are used in brewhouses. It applies to a final wort volume (amount of finished wort) of at least 30 hl. It gives the minimum specifications for the design of machines and equipment and is intended to describe these, to give information on their characteristics, and helps to compare them with each other. This document has been prepared by NA 060-18-05-01 AK "Sudhausanlagen des Fachbereichs Nahrungsmittelmaschinen" ("Brewhouse plants of the department machinery and equipment for the food industry") of NAM and is supported by the work results of Mitteleuropäische Brautechnische Analysenkommission (MEBAK) ("Central European Commission for Brewing Technology"). It replaces the so-called Münchner Vereinbarungen (Technische und technologische Gewährleistungen und Bedingungen) ("Technical and technological warranties and conditions"). Annex A of this standard contains single forms for indication of the technically relevant characteristics of brewhouse plants or parts thereof. Analysis specifications of Mitteleuropäische Brautechnische Analysenkommission (MEBAK), which assure a continuous adaptation of the analytical techniques to the level of knowledge and state of the art, are taken into account. Annex B contains the relevant methods of analysis of MEBAK for the used malts and the minimum specifications for light barley malts. The bibliography contains additional literature. With respect to DIN 8777:1996-01 the following changes have been made: a) the scope has been limited to a final wort volume (amount of finished wort) of at least 30 hl; b) the terms and definitions have in clause 3 been revised or supplemented; c) the content of clause 4 has been revised; d) the contents of the clause on the acceptance test have been transferred into recently added clauses; e) clause 5, project run for brewhouse plants, has been added; f) clause 6, procedure and analysis of the acceptance test, has been added; g) clause 7, assessment of the recovery of extracts, has been added; h) clause 8, negative effects on the acceptance test due to external circumstances, has been added; i) clause 9, costs of the acceptance test, has been added; j) the context of Annex A (normative) has been revised. Clause "Methods of production" is now a separate clause (see A.3); k) Annex B (normative), Methods of analysis for the malts used and minimum specifications for light barley malt, have been added; l) the normative references and the bibliography have been revised.
