The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 058-00-07 AA "Strahlenkunde" ("Radiology") at DIN. This standard applies to sunscreen products which physically (absorption and scattering) enable an adaptation of the erythema protection to the existing solar radiation and the individual radiation sensitivity on the skin; in general linguistic usage these products are called sunscreen or screening agent. This standard specifies the arrangement of the radiation, procedure and interpretation of in vivo-studies for the evaluation of sunscreen products and enables the comparability of performance figures, namely the sun protection factors, for the user. This standard does not consider the determination of water resistance. With respect to DIN 67501:1999-09, the following changes have been made: - the reference solar spectrum has been extended to maximal spectral UV irradiance near the equator, as a result some values in the table on the reference values of the cumulative erythemal effectiveness of irradiation apparatuses (Table 2) have been changed; - an adaptation of the protection classes to the new EC Recommendation 2006/646/EC; - the values in Table 1 "Spectral irradiance with parameters of the reference solar spectrum as a function of wavelength" have been changed; - the terms "standard preparation" and "global radiation" have been added.
This document replaces DIN 67501:1999-09 .
