This document applies to solid substitute fuels, recovered fuels, biofuels and lightweight packaging, light shredder fractions, high-calorific fractions, biologically treated waste or landfills, paper, cardboard, plastics and textiles, and generally to solid materials of low bulk density. The prerequisite is that the materials can be pressed or compacted. The use of the pressing-drill method is intended to facilitate the collection of representative analytical samples from heterogeneous materials of low bulk density. An alternative method of sample division and sample preparation is provided for the aforementioned materials, in particular for the application of the "riffle divider" and "divider cross". The press-drill method is based on the compression of the sample material in a geometrically defined shape with subsequent probability-proportional sampling by means of holes drilled directly from the compressed quasi-solid. The material system is available as a compact material structure due to the pressing pressure, so that segregation phenomena due to different material densities, broad particle size distribution and differing geometry are avoided during drilling. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-05-83 AA "Sekundärbrennstoffe" ("Recovered fuels") of DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
