The test methods for determining the evenness are generally applicable to all types of yarn. Such tests are carried out in particular on synthetic filament yarns and may include examination of various material conditions such as undrawn, drawn, textured and dyed. Testing may be conducted in air, water and other gaseous or liquid media at different temperatures, this standard, however, is based on measurements in heated air. The purpose of this standard is the basic description of test methods for the determination of characteristics regarding the evenness of filament yarns where the property, force or extension to be measured is determined in a continuous measurement process on a moved sample which. Two measurement principles are used: a) measurement arrangements for determining the extension and its variation at a specified force on a moved measurement sample; b) measurement arrangements for determining the force and its variation at a specified extension on a moved measurement sample. The corresponding measurand as a measure for evenness is determined under defined boundary conditions, in particular specifying the treatment medium, its temperature and the feed and discharge rates. The responsible German committee is NA 062-05-21 AA "Physikalisch-technologische Prüfverfahren für Textilien" ("Physical and technological test methods for textiles") of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) at DIN.
