This standard contains requirements for the preparation of refilled toner modules for 4-colour-printers. It also specifies test methods for the determination of toner module yield and quality characteristic features of the printouts. The aim of this standard is to specify minimum requirements for consistent print quality and trouble-free operation over the entire time of use of the toner cartridge. The test methods apply for defined toner modules used in colour printers which were placed on the market for the first time after 2013-12-31. The validity has been restricted to ensure that toner modules for older printers which are no longer available for tests in sufficient quantities can be further marked accordingly. Restricting the validity only replies to test methods. All other requirements remain unaffected. After publishing DIN 33870-2, DIN Technical Report 155 can be withdrawn and the basic criteria for awarding the Blauer Engel (RAL-UZ 55) (Blue Angel) can be placed on a broad and already tested normative base. The revision of standard series DIN 33870 is carried out in close collaboration with the Umweltbundesamt (German Federal Environment Agency). For refilled toner modules for monochrome printers, see DIN 33871-1. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 043-01-28 AA "Bürogeräte" ("Office equipment") at DIN.
