Wear, failures and other damage influence the operational safety of railway vehicles. Depending on the wear characteristics, application parameters and the current state of the railway vehicles and the cost effectiveness, a maintenance system shall be specified by which it is ensured that the necessary technical target state is maintained. Each vehicle is assigned an entity in charge of maintenance (ECM), which defines the applicable regulations and their implementation for welding maintenance. The standards of the complete set "State of railway vehicles" (condition of railway vehicles) included technical specifications for safety-related and monitoring-requiring systems and components of railway vehicles according to DIN 25003. The standards of the complete set "State of railway vehicles" define the limit state for the safe operation of railway vehicles and their components. They shall be applied where the vehicles are operated on a public railway infrastructure. The minimum requirements laid down in the standards for the processes for observing the desired condition of the railway vehicles are also to be applied. In addition, the standards shall also be observed in the new design if constructive precautions are to be taken to comply with the operating limit criteria. This standard applies to the welding repair of railroad vehicles. This document has been prepared by Subcommittee NA 087-00-15-01 UA "Grundlagen und Fertigungstechnologien" ("Terms and definitions for the reliable state of railway vehicles") of Working Committee NA 087-00-15 AA "Zustand der Eisenbahnfahrzeuge" ("State of railway vehicles") at DIN Standards Committee Railway (FSF) in coordination with other Working Committees of FSF and of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) and contains safety specifications. The standards of the complete set "State of railway vehicles" represent a uniform and system-compatible normative work that defines the limit state for safe operation as well as processes for maintaining the target state of railway vehicles. All of the standards of the complete work are listed in DIN 27200 Supplement 1. DIN 27201 "State of railway vehicles - Basic principles and production technology" consists of: - Part 1: State of railway vehicles - Basic principles and production technology - Part 1: Procedures for preparation and modification of maintenance programmes; - Part 2: Proof of maintenance; - Part 3: Test run; - Part 4: Treatment of railway vehicles following hazardous incidents; - Part 5: Assessment parameters and requirements of the distribution of wheel forces and vertical wheelset forces of railway vehicles - Procedure for checking and settings; - Part 6: Welding; - Part 7: Non-destructive testing (NDT); - Part 8: remains open; - Part 9: Measuring; - Part 10: Thermal spraying; - Part 11: Procedure for preparation of fault tolerance concept; - Part 12: Mandatory supervision equipments permanently installed in railway vehicles; the standard differs from DIN 27201-6:2011-10 as follows: a) taking into account Directive (EU) 2016/798, adaptation of the foreword and the scope of application; b) revision of the normative references and the bibliography; c) terms and abbreviations newly added; d) cleaning up of certification requirements by deleting DIN EN 15085-2:2008, Clauses 4, 6 and 7; e) as a replacement for the certification levels according to DIN EN 15085-2:2008, Clause 4, the standard contains a three-level component classification with classification levels CL 1 to CL 3; f) revision of Clauses 4, 5 and 6; g) as an alternative to the requirements for welding manufacturers according to DIN EN 15085-2:2008, this standard contains a new Annex C "Qualification of welding manufacturers"; h) editorially revised.
