Overview

In particular in underground hard coal mining with its difficult and often changing operating conditions, track conveyance offers various advantages. In addition to the usability in the case of a low load-bearing capacity of the subsoil, the easy expansion and adaptability of the systems is of importance. The flexible design of the rolling stock results in comparatively few restrictions regarding the transportable material to be conveyed. This standard applies to underground mine railways and specifies a selection of the track gauges and rails used in mining. The standard has been prepared by NA 008-05-01 "Grubenbahnen" ("Mine railways") of the Mining Standards Committee (FABERG) at DIN.
