In addition to the canvas bag for lines for fire-brigades, which is only used to accommodate lines for fire-brigades according to DIN 14921, the multi-purpose bag for fire service serves for extended use in fire service. The multi-purpose bag for fire service is therefore intended for transportation of either the line for fire-brigades according to DIN 14920 or of auxiliaries used during missions. This standard shall provide an opportunity to transport auxiliaries used during missions in an appropriate fashion and without causing harm to the personal protective equipment. The design and use of the multi-purpose bag for fire service shall also ensure that it does not - inadmissibly reduce mobility of the person carrying the bag, - excessively increase the strain for the person carrying the bag, - endanger the protective function of other PPE. This standard takes account of the increased requirements, for example, during indoor-fire fighting on the one hand, and on the other hand, creates freedom of choice with regard to equipping the bag. Equipping the bag can be carried out individually if the line is not put into the multi-purpose bag for fire service. This includes integration of storage and sorting pockets in the interior of the bag. The material selection of the multi-purpose bag for fire-service is based on DIN EN 469 (Protective clothing for firefighting). With regard to the design of multi-purpose bags for fire service, the proven size of the canvas bag for lines for fire-brigades according to DIN 14921 and its design regarding mass remain unchanged as maximum values. During the preparation of this standard, the following hazards which may result from a carried multi-purpose bag for fire service were taken into account: - getting caught on solid objects; - inflammation of the multi-purpose bag for fire service at thermal strain, - risk of dropping out of transport equipment (for example, line for fire-brigades) during unintentional opening of the multi-purpose bag for fire service. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-04-03 AA "Persönliche Schutzausrüstung für die Feuerwehr - SpA zu CEN/TC 158/WG 3" ("Personal protective equipment for firefighters - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 158/WG 3") of DIN.
