Decentralized energy generating units will increasingly also feed low-voltage distribution networks and thus will be part of voltage maintenance. As a result, requirements for their design and interfaces in the plant network arise directly. The VDE Rules of Application VDE AR N 5105 identifies significant aspects with regard to safety and reliability of network operation in accordance with the provisions of the Energy Industry Act. DIN VDE V 0124-100 (VDE V 0124-100) serves for verification of the electric requirements for generator units fixed in VDE AR N 4105. In addition to the design and testing, the Rules of Application and V standard provide relevant data for network operators, such as plant constructors, which are of importance as planning documents and decision support as well as - as a result - during operation. Examples for generator plants or their units considered so far concern, amongst others, utilization of water power, photovoltaics, cogeneration machines, combined heat and power systems or fuel cells. The responsible committee is K 261 "Systemaspekte der elektrischen Energieversorgung" ("System aspects of electrical energy supply") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
