This standard applies to all vehicle transporters that are suitable for transporting passenger cars, minibuses and commercial vehicle station wagons with an actual mass of up to and including 4.5 t and are equipped in accordance with standard VDI 2700 Part 8.1. This standard also applies to all vehicle transporters that are suitable for transporting medium to heavy commercial vehicles with an actual mass of up to 20 t and a maximum wheel diameter of 1.25 m and are equipped in accordance with the VDI 2700 Part 8.2. The directive is intended for vehicle manufacturers, component manufacturers and vehicle owners. Information on load securing of cars and trucks on vehicle transporters and their equipment can be found in VDI 2700 Part 8.1 and VDI 2700 Part 8.2. This standard contains the test methods or the reference to other test standards or test guidelines in order to be able to determine the requirements of VDI 2700 Part 8.1 and VDI 2700 Part 8.2 for vehicle transporters and load securing equipment. The following assemblies and their test methods are listed: roadway elements, coefficients of friction, lashings, belt controllers, roadway elements, mounting points for load securing aids, wheel chocks in connection with roadway elements, structural stability of the vehicle transporter.
