Short description
The document serves as reference when selecting high-temperature strain sensors to be mounted in direct contact with the surface of a test object, and whose sensor element is exposed to the temperature of the test-object surface. To this end, the guideline explains the terminology of high-temperature strain measurement and lists the criteria for the selection of strain sensors. The underlying principles of functioning, important specifies, and typical applications are resented for the high-temperature strain sensors in current use. Furthermore, recommendations which have proven useful in practical measurements are given with respect to the appropirate preparation, execution, estimation of uncertainty, and evaluation of strain gauge measurements at high temperatures. Unless otherwise expressly stated, the information in this guidelinge is valid for measurements of static strains.
