Short description
The standard describes the set-up and usage of radiation sources used for adjusting and calibration of radiation thermometers and thermography cameras. The purpose of adjusting and calibrating radiation thermometers is the traceability of temperature measurement devices to the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). This enables to specify the measurement uncertainty. The standard addresses users of radiation thermometers and thermography cameras and, specifically, quality assurance and test laboratories of non-contact temperature measurement devices. The understanding of the different operational principles and the relevant technical data of these radiation sources enables their qualified choice and optimal usage. The standard gives an introduction to the physical principles and technical specifications and introduces a comprehensive compilation of the various set-ups of calibration radiators. The specific properties of fixed-point radiators, cavity radiators of variable temperature, and plate radiators are equally considered.
