Short description
The building automation industry is largely made up of "cross-entrants", which either come from the technical building equipment area and are at home in the mechanical trades of heating and ventilation technology (HVAC), or from specialists who come from electrical engineering, having to get to know the systems to be automated. The training of people who want to deepen their knowledge in the field of building automation has always been necessary. The standard describes the requirements for persons in building automation and control systems (BACS) during the construction phases "planning", "erection" and "operation". It is the responsibility of the educational providers to configure qualifications which, based on an input qualification to be determined by them (knowledge, competence, experience), provide content and, if necessary, check the success of the training. Among other things, the tools of the series of standards VDI 3814 must be communicated to the extent required. The standard describes competence profiles for different roles of persons (e.g. BACS planner, project manager, programmer, facility management service provider). It can be used for the conception of qualification measures for building automation as well as for the mirroring of competencies in this profile.
