Short description
Considered as universal load carriers, pallets are an integral part of today's logistics processes. Simultaneously the requirements for the information provided about the carried goods are rising. For instance parallelisation of material and information flow is a minimum requirement. Despite the heterogeneous Auto-ID hardware used in different companies, no compatibility problems must arise when identifying the markings. The application methods and locations for labelling pallets with optical and/or radio-frequency data carriers described in this standard allow for seamless compatibility between labelling and Auto-ID system. Additionally the standard includes the description of methods for testing other individual labelling solutions upon their compatibility.
