Short description
Modular and serial construction methods require rules, which include the special design features and deviations from the usual building regulations. In particular, the topics of planning, construction processes and special building physics features, which are often regulated, must be dealt with. The existing standards often don´t regard the special features of modular and serial construction methods, so that a coordinated German view, also as a basis for the European market, could regulate the open and much discussed questions. The application of this standard closes this gap. This standard is a guideline for the planning, production and assembly of buildings made of prefabricated room modules. A high degree of prefabrication and weather-independent production can achieve various advantages, while at the same time module construction-specific boundary conditions must be taken into account, which are explained in this standard. It provides information regarding construction times and the possibilities of quality assurance. The standard describes the current state of practice in construction with room modules, defines construction with room modules and explains planning, production, transport and assembly processes.
