Short description
There is consensus in the rail sector that the freight cars of the future will communicate and cooperate. Only in this way, the railway sector can participate in the growth markets of logistics, as this is the only way for them to exploit their system advantages in terms of energy efficiency and CO2 emissions and thus make an important contribution to achieving the reduction goals of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. Energy supply forms the basis on which new, value-added applications can be realized. This standard provides recommendations for those properties of a freight wagon power supply that are essential for compatibility. This concerns e. g. voltage level, electrical load capacity and minimum energy supply, but also designs and arrangement of connectors and cable guides. The standard describes a basic power supply comparable to the standard on road vehicles in order to reduce the technical and economic hurdles for the introduction of innovative components. Neither the liberal usability nor the maintainability may be restricted. This standard is addressed to railway companies, manufacturers and suppliers of freight wagons and their components, representatives of wagon rental companies as well as universities and representatives of public authorities.
