Short description
This standard supplements the other parts of the series of standards VDI 5600 and uses practical examples to show which future requirements manufacturing execution systems (MES) must meet. This standard shows where changes in the design, structure and use of MES occur as a result of Industry 4.0 Specifications. It helps companies to find their way in the new market environment and the changed production environment with regard to the adaptation of their MES. It is regarded as a guideline both in the company for decision-makers (Managing Director and Head of Production, IT, Materials Management, Quality, Maintenance, Human Resources, Controlling), process owners and users (manufacturing preparation, logistics, order control centre, production planning, production, quality assurance, maintenance), as well as for participants in the selection and implementation process with their professional focus (project managers as well as internal and external service providers), and provider of software, hardware and integration solutions and services.
