Short description
European Directive 2001/18/EC on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) prescribes monitoring as a means of identifying potential adverse effects of GMOs and their use on human health and the environment at an early stage. Council Decision 2002/811/EC lays down supplementary guidance notes for implementing monitoring strategies. This standard provides further guidance on the general requirements of a monitoring plan and how to implement it. The standard is designed to be used for monitoring the effects of genetically modified organisms on soil organisms based on the provisions of European Directive 2001/18/EC and Council Decision 2002/811/EC. It describes criteria for designing and implementing a monitoring strategy for soil organisms.
