Short description
Currently, no legislatory requirements exist for emissions and ambient air concentrations of bioaerosols. Numerous measurement campaigns and large studies have been conducted by different methodologies, but the results are not comparable. This standard applies the test bioaerosol generators, which are described in VDI 4258 Part 1. The standard distinguishes between requirements to closed (test chambers and test channels) and open test systems. An example for open test systems is the targeted release of bioaerosols into the environment, e.g. dispersion experiments. This standard provides the basis for testing the suitability of test bioaerosol, testing of measurement devices, the generation of test materials for quality assurance, testing of the effectiveness of decontamination measures, testing of personal protective equipment, inhalation toxicological investigations, investigation of the ecology of airborne microorganisms and the validation of dispersion models.
