The effects of environmental influences, e. g. particles and dusts, on the service life and functionality of technical products are simulated using specific test dusts. Many of the test dusts used are standardized in international standards. However, detailed information, e. g. on mineralogical and chemical composition, is missing there. This information is crucial for the properties of a test dust and thus for their behaviour or their respective test suitability. Since the results of product testing serve as a basis for investment and (safety) decisions, the results are relevant from a business and possibly macroeconomic point of view. This standard gives minimum requirements for a test certificate for test dusts in terms of content and form, which are generally necessary for a sufficient description of the properties of a test dust. On the basis of such a test certificate, the suitability of a dust for the respective application can be assessed. It is also possible to produce synthetic test dusts that are clearly described in terms of their properties and can be reproduced at any time, adapted to specific environmental conditions.This standard is therefore aimed at users from testing laboratories, technical committees, standardisation bodies and standardisation committees as well as test dust manufacturers.
