Short description
This standard describes the basics of measuring the meteorological range according to transmission and scattered light methods and gives guidance on the measurement planning and the data acquisition, data transmission and data evaluation. The measurement of air turbidity using the methods set out in this standard can be used to monitor air quality over extended periods, e.g. for trend investigations in areas of pure air or agglomeration areas. The measurement of air turbidity or visibility is also of great importance in road, air and marine traffic. The standard in particular addresses assessors, representatives of authorities, scientists and operators of airports.
