Short description
The wind largely determines propagation and transport of gases and particles as well as their residence and mixing and concentration changes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out continuous measurements of wind speed and wind direction. The standard discusses in situ measurement of wind speed with rotational, thermal, two-dimensional ultrasound and laser anemometers that measure wind direction with a wind vane and other mechanisms for the determination of the two-dimensional wind vector. Besides the measurement method, the siting of the measuring instruments, quality assurance, registration and evaluation of measurement data are described.
