Short description
Model investigations in wind- and water tunnels (physical models) are an acknowledged method to answer questions about air quality, microclimate and for the validation of numerical flow and dispersion models. In complex or topographically structured terrain the wind tunnel is especially suitable. The capacity of physical modelling lies especially in the physical similar simulation of the relevant flow or dispersion process. In practice therefore the atmospheric boundary layer has to be modelled and an equivalent model must be used. The standard targets on standardization and quality assurance of the laboratory test technics for environmental investigations. The standard is intended for the chemical, nuclear and petroleum industries, energy supply companies, the wind energy sector, local authorities, building authorities, state authorities (air, water, waste, ecology), environmental protection officers, trade supervisory authorities, state environmental authorities, airport companies, air traffic control (DFS), the German Meteorological Service, technical monitoring associations, meteorological university institutes, ecological and geographic university institutes, BUND, consulting engineers.
