Short description
Test aerosols are used in a wide variety of applications in filter testing, clean room technology, calibration, adjustment or checking of particle-counting measuring instruments, in biological and medical research and other areas where the focus is on fine or ultrafine particles. Often, the aerosols produced by an aerosol generator cannot be used directly but must first be transported and adapted before being used in a specific application. This standard describes the sampling, transport and corresponding conditioning processes (e. g. dilution, drying, purification), points out advantages and limitations, and addresses the particle losses associated with these processes. The processes described in this standard may also be used for other aerosols, e. g. exhaust gases from internal combustion engines or atmospheric aerosols.
