Short description
The standard describes plants with an approved throughput capacity of more than approx. 6000 Mg/a. These plants treat biodegradable waste, such as green waste and biowaste. It describes the state of the art of biological waste treatment plants using aerobic and anaerobic process technologies, with special attention to the air pollutants produced in the process, such as odorous substances, air pollutants, dust and microorganisms. With publication of the standards VDI 3475 Part 5 and VDI 3475 Part 6, the standard was withdrawn. Successor standards for the fermentation of biological waste are VDI 3475 Part 5 and for composting VDI 3475 Part 6. For questions concerning odour emission factors in biological waste treatment, the standard VDI 3475 Part 7 shall be consulted.
