Short description
The standard concerns the production and processing of high-temperature insulation wool and products made from high-temperature wool and applies only in conjunction with VDI 3469 Part 1. The group of high-temperature insulation wool comprises amorphous high-temperature glass (AES, alkaline earth silicate) and aluminium-silicate wool (RCF, refractory ceramic fibres) and alumina wool from the polycrystalline wool group. The use of these products enables the predominantly industrial users to efficiently operate heat treatment plants at temperatures between 600 °C and 1800 °C. In these high-temperature applications, the consumption of primary energy and the associated carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by up to 50 % in many plants.
