Short description
The standard refers to the use of skiving and roller burnishing of bores on deep hole boring machines. It gives interested companies important information that lead to the correct and effective use of these methods. The standard therefore is aimed at both the planners but also the machine operator, who require approximate values for optimal use. It provides guidance for skiving and the combination of skiving and roller burnishing for finishing bores. The latter is mainly used for the production of hydraulic cylinder tubes. The standard contains descriptions of procedures and approximate values for the application of tools on various typical materials. This standard applies in conjunction with the standards VDI 3210 Part 1 and Part 2 as well as VDI 3209 Part 1, where machines and pre-machining procedures for the pilot hole are discussed, such as multi-blade pilot boring. In this standard the pilot boring only is treated as an important pre-machining procedure and as part of combination methods.
