Short description
The goal of this guideline is, on the one hand, supporting the operator in making a selection between various production equipment alternatives. For this purpose it provides a methodical framework for procurement decisions - assuming a utilisation profile - on the basis of the resulting total life cycle costs. For manufacturers, on the other hand, the guideline provides a methodical framework for the development of innovative configurations of production equipment against the background of a life cycle costs calculation (Life Cycle Engineering). The guideline is particularly helpful in showing the influence of recurrent costs and consequential costs which could be reduced, for example, by maintenance friendly design. Another aim of the guideline is to provide an LCC assessment method which can be used to argue from the operator's as well as from the manufacturer's point of view so that the advantages of alternative production equipment or their characteristics can be discussed on the basis of sound knowledge and evaluated both qualitatively and quantitatively.
