Short description
The conditions at the planned deployment site and structural concerns must be factored into the planning and designing of all components of an automated guided vehicle system (AGVS). To guarantee the proper, safe, and fault-free operation of the AGVS, the interfaces of the AGVS to infrastructure and peripheral devices in particular will have to be planned and realised. This standard details and supplements the requirements of VDI 2510 Part 1 for peripheral equipment and building elements for AGVSs, such as interfaces with doors and gates, fire doors and lifts. This standard provides a detailed description of the topic and thus defines the requirements of AGVS with respect to their operational environment in such areas. The description applies to systems from all manufacturers. It provides a guideline for planning interfaces between building elements and the AGVS, addressed in particular to plant designers, suppliers of building elements, and plant operators. The description focuses mainly on functional interfaces and communication interfaces; in some special cases, also mechanical interfaces.
