Short description
The guideline describes the current state-of-the-art of copper and copper alloy smelting installations as well as suitable emission reduction measures. Moreover, it provides guidance for emission measurements and shows in an exemplary manner possibilities to enhance the energy efficiency of these energy-intensive processes resp. to use the incidental waste heat in a reasonable way. The scope includes plants dealing with smelting and subsequent processing of copper cathodes, alloying metals, return materials and copper containing scrap. The guideline is also valid for plants producing metallic pigments from copper and copper alloys. It is aimed in equal measure at plant operators, plant manufacturers, designing engineers as well as at regulating and surveillance authorities.
