This DIN SPEC has been prepared by a workshop (temporary committee) in the course of the PAS procedure. This DIN SPEC has been prepared and adopted by the authors named in the foreword. This DIN SPEC specifies requirements for increased sound insulation in rooms requiring protection in residential buildings in order to achieve the described sound insulation objectives. They form the basis for building constructions for increased sound insulation in new residential buildings. In the case of structural alterations to existing residential buildings, it shall be examined on a case-by-case basis whether the proposed parameters may be applied in part or in full. The requirements of DIN SPEC 91314 do not apply - against external noise, for example traffic noise and noise from commercial and industrial operations that are not structurally connected to the rooms requiring protection; - against aircraft noise, insofar as the sound insulation measures are regulated by the German Act on Protection against Aircraft Noise; - against low-frequency noise in accordance with DIN 45680 (as a rule, if the difference LCF - LAF is greater than 20 dB); - for sound insulation in areas used for own purposes; - for protection against airborne sound transmission from corridors, kitchens, bathrooms, toilet rooms and ancillary rooms, provided they are not intended as recreation rooms or connected to each other by shafts or ducts; - for protection against impact sound transmission and noise from building services systems in corridors, kitchens, bathrooms, toilet rooms and ancillary rooms; - for user noise, such as placing a toothbrush cup on a shelf, opening and closing the toilet lid. Proposals for increased sound insulation between particularly noisy rooms and rooms requiring protection shall be individually agreed.
