Overview

This DIN SPEC (PAS) is the result of the INS project "Standards for the Benchmarking of Outsourcing Services and Outsourcing Providers" within the framework of the initiative "Innovation with Norms and Standards (INS)" (Project number VII A 3 - 380824) promoted by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie (BMWi) (Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology). There are currently no standards available for this topic. The DIN SPEC specifies requirements for the benchmarking of outsourcing services and outsourcing providers. The specification enables a comparison of outsourcing services and outsourcing providers in an objectified and verifiable manner. It provides guidelines, methods and criteria for the benchmarking of outsourcing services and outsourcing providers. The objective of this DIN SPEC is to alleviate market intransparency, bring together supply and demand of the outsourcing market more efficiently and lower monitoring and control costs for those involved in the outsourcing market. The areas of both IT outsourcing (ITO) as well as business process outsourcing (BPO) are addressed. In particular small and medium enterprises (SMEs) shall be given the opportunity to benchmark according to a standard procedure by functioning as outsourcing service providers for selection of suitable outsourcing services and outsourcing providers.
