Overview

The DIN SPEC specifies the potentially explosive atmospheres in storage tanks as well as in and around pipelines, fittings, plant components, in and around pumps, in and around chambers, shafts and other rooms below ground level and around aboveground storage tanks outdoors. Furthermore, the potentially explosive atmospheres are defined for the discharge of vapour/air mixtures. In addition to defining the potentially explosive atmospheres, possible protective measures are also described. Corresponding examples have been included for the potentially explosive atmospheres. DIN SPEC 26056 has been published as a bilingual version (German and English). DIN SPEC 26056 has been prepared by Working Committee NA 104-02-05 AA "Flammendurchschlagssicherungen und Tanklüftungseinrichtungen" ("Flame arresters and tank venting systems") at DIN Standards Committee Tank Installations (NATank).
