This Technical Specification specifies a method for the determination of the specific electrical conductivity in aqueous suspensions of sludge (fresh), treated biowaste (fresh) or soil (fresh or air-dry). The determination of the specific electrical conductivity is carried out to obtain an indication of the content of water-soluble electrolytes in soil, treated biowaste and sludge. The method forming the basis of the Technical Specification has already been published for soils as DIN ISO 11265 "Soil quality - Determination of the specific electrical conductivity". Method characteristics from an inter-laboratory test with 5 air-dry soil samples and 26 participating laboratories are included in DIN ISO 11265. This DIN SPEC is the German version of the Technical Specification CEN/TS 15937:2013, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 400 "Project Committee - Horizontal standards in the fields of sludge, biowaste and soil", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The responsible German committee is NA 119-01-02-02 UA "Chemische und physikalische Verfahren" ("Chemical and physical methods") of NA 119-01-02 AA "Abfall- und Bodenuntersuchung" ("Waste and soil investigation") of the Water Practice Standards Committee (NAW) at DIN. This document CEN/TS 15937 (DIN SPEC 91202) is the result of standardization work which has not been issued by CEN/TC 400 as a standard due to certain reservations with regard to the content or because of deviating preparation procedures with respect to a European Standard. CEN Technical Specifications have the status of a preliminary standard and are therefore published by DIN as DIN SPECs with their own counter numbers. CEN/TS 15937 (DIN SPEC 91202) has been published as a draft standard under E DIN EN 15937:2010-12.
