Overview

This part of the European Standard shall be read in conjunction with EN 1317, Parts 1 and 2. These parts of the standard support EN 1317-5. This part of the standard specifies requirements for the performance of PTW driver protection systems to be fitted to the safety barriers or for the aspect of rider protection of the safety barrier itself. It excludes the assessment of the vehicle restraint capabilities of safety barriers or the risk that they represent to the occupants of impacting cars. The severity of impacting vehicles shall be assessed in accordance with EN 1317-1 and EN 1317-2. This part of the standard specifies performance classes with respect to rider impacts, taking into account rider speed classes, impact severity and the working width of the system.
