This Technical Specification describes a laboratory method for polishing paving units using a flat-bed polishing machine prior to the measurement of slip and skid resistance to evaluate the durability of this characteristic. This Technical Specification may not be applicable to profiled paving units: for these types of units the method of polishing does not reflect the polishing in practice. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-10-01 AA "Pflastersteine, Platten und Bordsteine (SpA zu CEN/TC 178, CEN/TC 178/WG 2, CEN/TC 178/WG 3 und CEN/TC 178/WG 4)" ("Paving units and kerbs (national mirror committee for CEN/TC 178, CEN/TC 178/WG 2, CEN/TC 178/WG 3 and CEN/TC 178/WG 4)") at DIN.
