Overview

This document has been prepared by the conveners of the Working Groups of Technical Committee CEN/TC 158 "Head protection"; it is intended to serve as a guide, to be consulted when drawing up new European standards for head protection and when revising or amending existing ones. This DIN SPEC, which has been prepared in accordance with the procedural rules of a Technical Report, addresses the Working Committees of Technical Committee CEN/TC 158 "Head protection". Although the application of the content of this document is not mandatory, working groups are urged not to make deviations from this document without good cause. The working groups shall assess the foreseeable risks against which the helmet should provide protection. Each of the helmet standards shall satisfy the basic health and safety requirements of Directive 89/686/EEC on personal protective equipment to the extent indicated in Annex ZA of the helmet standard.
